There are many reasons one may want to plan a fundraiser. Perhaps you are looking to raise money for a friend or family member facing extraordinary medical costs. You may even plan an event in support of your favorite charity or a sports team. No matter what cause you are raising funds for, there are some steps you can take to help ensure that your event is a success.
Advertising Your Event
One of the most important aspects of planning a fundraising event is advertising it. The more people who know about it, the better your potential turnout will be. Today’s world of social media gives organizers multiple channels on which to announce their event all at once.
Create a Facebook page specifically for the event. This will give people an opportunity to ask you any questions they may have. It also gives you a way to announce any changes if something should come up as you are organizing entertainment. Facebook is used almost daily by users, either on their computer or mobile devices. This means your event has the potential to be seen by a much larger audience then would notice traditional advertising.
Contact your local media outlets. The media is a great way to get the word out to those around you about the event.
Plan for Food
One way to entice people to attend your event is by offering some type of food. Whether you are just going to have light refreshments or a fully catered meal, food will attract people. As you plan your menu keep in mind the age group attending the event. If children are going to be in attendance keep a fair amount of non-alcoholic beverages as well as kid friendly foods on hand.
Plan for Entertainment
Next to food, the promise of entertainment will also help increase your attendance. If you are going to book live musicians, try to get an array of music on stage. This way everybody has something to look forward to.
Again keeping children in mind, you may want to contact some local clowns to see if they will do either face painting or make balloon animals for you.
Photo booths can also be rented; by renting one of these booths you will guarantee attendees a memento of the event.
Planning a fundraiser may take some time, but in the end it will all be worth it.
